The accident
A courier driver contacted Actons Injury Solicitors after a dog bite accident. The driver was delivering 2 parcels to a house when the accident happened. At the house, a lady and her 2 dogs greeted the driver at the front door. The dogs followed the lady outside of the house to collect the parcels from the driver.
The driver handed over the parcels and then went back to his car to get a scanner which the lady had to sign. When he returned, one of the dogs attacked him, biting the driver multiple times.
The dog bite injury
As a result of the shocking dog bite accident, the driver suffered from lacerations and puncture wounds to both his thighs and to his left forearm.
How we helped claim compensation
We believed that the dog owner was to blame for the driver’s accident and dog bite injuries. However, the dog owner and her insurers denied being at fault, arguing that the dog was merely trying to play with the driver. They claimed that the dog bite injuries were superficial and there were warning signs about the dogs on the property.
The driver sent us photographs which made it clear that his dog bite injuries were severe. We also obtained evidence with a further investigation which strengthened our claim of the dog owner being at fault.
As the lady and her insurers kept challenging the claim, we issued court proceedings. We then made a tactical offer to settle the dog bite compensation claim, which the driver agreed was a fair reflection of his injuries. The dog owner accepted the offer and the driver received £3,500 in compensation for his dog bite accident and injuries.
