The accident:
We acted for a man who was injured after tripping over a curb outside home and leisure retailer, The Range, on an evening in November.
He was walking towards the shop’s entrance, which was very dark due to broken lighting. As a result, he failed to see the curb in front of him; tripping and falling to the floor.
The injury:
Following the accident, he suffered an aggravation of a pre-existing knee injury and shoulder pain.
Both injuries caused symptoms for approximately one year after the date of the accident.
How we helped claim compensation:
We sent details of the claim to The Range who took responsibility for the accident on the basis that their lighting was inadequate, failing to ensure customers visiting the store were safe.
Initially they offered £3,000 compensation, but our client rejected this as we advised it could be a significant undervaluation.
We then entered into negotiations with The Range, managing to increase the amount offered to £6,500; which our client was very pleased with.
