Supermarket Aldi were forced to release a statement last week to inform its customers that it was unsafe to eat their faulty ‘Poppin’ Chicken’ product.
This came after traces of plastic had been discovered inside the frozen snack, leading to serious safety fears.
Aldi described the warning as only ‘precautionary’, but emphasised that consumption of the product was strictly prohibited.
So far, there have been no reports of injury related to the product and customers are being encouraged to return the item for a full refund.
This isn’t the first taste of plastic in a UK supermarket this year, with Lidl and Waitrose both withdrawing frozen mince products for the same reason back in June.
