We were instructed on behalf of a client in connection with a dog biting claim which occurred in
summer of 2021. Our client was residing in a block of flats and on the day of the incident was
entering the yard of the flats via a back access. A child was sat on the wall holding a dog, as
our client had to pass by them to enter the yard the dog began barking and growling at him. The
child suggested that the dog just wanted to say hello so our client kneeled down in front of the
dog and as he did so the dog jumped up and bit the him on his face. He sustained a nasty
injury with permanent scarring.
We were instructed to act on behalf of our client on a No Win, No Fee basis and wrote a letter of
claim to the Defendants setting out the circumstances and why we considered they were at
fault for the incident. Liability was admitted subject to causation.
Medical evidence was obtained for both physical and psychological injuries. Following
disclosure of medical evidence and some negotiating with the Defendants they put forward
an offer to settle the claim in the sum of £13,500.00 which was accepted by our client.
He was happy with the outcome.
