We were instructed to act on behalf of a lady in connection a claim arising from a dog biting incident that occurred whilst she was at work in the summer of 2019. We agreed to act for the Claimant on a No Win, No Fee basis.
Our client was employed as an apprentice groomer. At the time of the incident she had only been in her role for about 6 weeks. As she was drying a dog at the grooming salon, it growled and as she attempted to calm the dog down it attacked her in the face. She suffered lacerations and scaring to her face.
The claim was presented to the owner of the dog who turned out to be uninsured. We then presented a claim to her employers. It was alleged by our client that her employers had failed to train her satisfactorily, failed to supervise her satisfactorily and failed to keep her safe whilst she was at work and opened her up to a hazard of the job without telling her about the history of the dog in question. The Claimant’s employers disputed liability, so much so that we had to issue Court proceedings.
Evidence was obtained from plastic surgeons and psychologists which was complicated. The Court proceedings included a claim for injury plus camouflage makeup that the client would need to cover the scarring for the rest of her life. Despite the claim being disputed, the Claimant, after negotiations, received £25,000 for her injuries and losses which the Claimant was very happy about.
