We were instructed to act on behalf of a lady who was involved in a dog biting incident in the Spring of 2021.
At that time our client was a self-employed delivery driver and was attempting to deliver a parcel. The home to which she was delivering were not present at the time and she left the parcel with a neighbour. She then posted a card through the Defendant’s door to notify them of the fact that the parcel was left next door when she was bitten by a dog on her fingers as she was posting the card through. Unbeknown to her there was a dog at the property and there were no warning signs no any guard to prevent the dog from getting near the letterbox.
We pursued the claim on a no win, no fee basis for our client, alleging that they failed to keep our client reasonably safe when delivering parcels/post to the property and allowed their dog to roam free without any guards or mechanisms in place to prevent the dog from biting anyone who was posting anything through the door.
A detailed letter of claim was sent to the Defendant and eventually, following our letter of claim, the Defendant’s admitted liability.
Medical evidence was thereafter obtained and after negotiations with the Defendants with regards to the residual small scarring and numbness on her fingers, our client received £4,500.00 for her injuries.
