A teenager has been left with severe scaring on his face after getting a £9 temporary henna tattoo while on holiday in Zante.
The teen got the tattoo to resemble that of Mike Tyson’s but was shocked to discover it had left him with red scarring down the side of his face, in the shape of the tattoo design. The injuries could last up to 5 years.
This incident is similar to one that occurred in 2015 where a 16 year old girl was left with potentially permanent scars on her leg after a black henna tattoo burned her. It was found that the henna contained the chemical paraphenylenediamine.
Tattoo experts have issued warnings about the dangers of temporary henna tattoos and even advising people to avoid them altogether.
