Our client was severely injured in a serious road traffic accident. She was travelling to work when she was involved in a head on collision. The Police were called to the scene where she was immediately taken to Hospital.
Our client had numerous injuries. She suffered a head injury, seat belt bruising to her chest, an open fracture to her left tibia and fibia in her lower leg, a fracture to her left hand and a fracture to her right foot. She had surgery to pin and plate the fracture.
We sent a detailed letter to the third party’s insurance company setting out the severity of our client’s injuries, as a result of which liability was accepted.
We obtained numerous specialist medical reports for our client’s physical injuries, from a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and a consultant plastic surgeon.
Our client was embarrassed by her scarring to her legs and suffered anxiety. We obtained a specialist psychological medical report and she was diagnosed as having suffered a severe psychological reaction. She felt conscious of the scarring to her leg and no longer wore skirts and avoided sunbathing whilst on holiday. We arranged for specialist photographs to be taken which we used in negotiating her compensation.
Our client needed care and assistance upon her return home from the hospital, which was provided by her husband. He was not working at the time, due to ill health and we obtained her an immediate interim payment of £5,000 to ease their financial worries.
We were able to arrange private treatment for our client’s further surgery at the insurers’ expense, to assist her in her recovery.
We acted for her on a No Win No Fee basis. We negotiated an award of almost £50,000 for our client, as well as payment of our costs by the insurers.
