Many of us will soon be heading to the airport for some summer sun. Unfortunately, accidents happen, and it can be a very complicated process trying to pursue compensation from the responsible party residing in a foreign country where local laws will apply.
There is, however, some protection under the Package Travel Regulations 1992. They enable the injured party to bring a claim in the English Courts against the UK Travel Operator for the acts and omissions of their foreign suppliers.
The regulations state that a package holiday must consist of at least 2 pre-arranged components, i.e., transport and accommodation or some other such service offered by the tour operator. They will have been paid for in a single holiday price.
The regulations also apply to holidays in England and Wales, such as a coach holiday, for example, where hotel and accommodation are part of the package.
We hope that you have a fantastic holiday, but should you suffer an accident or injury in the UK or abroad, or even a serious bout of food poisoning, if you booked a package holiday, we have a dedicated team who may be able to assist.
