We were contacted by a lady who had been burnt as a result of HIFU freezing treatment conducted by a beauty salon leaving her with scarring.

We agreed to act for a lady on a no win, no fee basis in order to try and pursue some compensation for her as she had suffered a significant burn to her neck leaving unsightly scarring.

We submitted the claim to the Defendant’s solicitors who disputed this matter from the outset on the basis that treatment was carried out correctly and that she had consented to all the side effects of treatment that they knew about. They indicated that the scarring injury the Claimant suffered was not a side effect of treatment, it was her own responsibility due to her own aftercare.

As such we sought evidence from a specialised expert in HIFU treatment, who confirmed that the Claimant had in fact been treated negligently and we obtained evidence from a plastic surgeon who set out the injury suffered and what could be done.

The claim was pursued and detailed correspondence setting out the Claimant’s position to the Defendant’s solicitors was made along with supplying concise photographs of the injury along with details of her losses, which included a claim for all the treatment recommended, i.e. injections and camouflage make up, with a conclusion that unless realistic proposals were made court proceedings would follow. The Defendants solicitors made offers of starting and £1500.00, gradually increasing but after correspondence and negotiations the claim was settled for £17,000.00 plus costs.
