We have secured £3,900 compensation for a woman who was injured in the car park of a rented Housing Association property.
Background
We acted on the behalf of a client who lived in a rented Housing Association property. The property had access to a shared car park.
The accident
On the day of the accident, our client was walking through the car park with her friend. A drain had been left uncovered, and was disguised by a pile of leaves. She fell into the open drain.
The injuries
Our client injured her wrist and lower back in the fall. She was prescribed painkillers by her GP. An x-ray confirmed that she did not break any bones in her back. She could not work for 2 months. Once she returned to work, she was initially restricted to working part-time due to the ongoing pain in her lower back. The injury to her wrist took approximately 3 weeks to heal, but the injury to her back took significantly longer.
How we helped claim compensation
We presented the claim with our arguments as to why the Housing Association were responsible for our client’s injuries and losses. Although the Housing Association did not accept liability for the accident, we secured £3,900 for our client, which she was very happy with.
