A woman’s routine trip to the salon to have her eyebrows waxed and tinted resulted in her losing her eyebrows and was lucky not to have lost her sight.

The mother, aged 25, had her eyebrows waxed, followed by the application of a tint. As the tint was applied immediately after her eyebrows were waxed, the pores of her skin were left open to the chemicals. No patch test was performed prior to the tint to test for any allergic reaction.

She was in agony overnight, and woke up the following day to find her eyebrows had fallen out. The pain continued to rise until she could not even open her eyes. She was prescribed antibiotics for the infection.

Doctors have warned her that her eyebrows may never grow back and that had the tint been left on much longer, she could have gone blind. Doctors also said that the soft tissue around her eyebrows had been burnt and the tint should not have been applied to open pores.

Not only has she lost her eyebrows but she has suffered a knock to her confidence because of it.
