A 20 year old make-up artist claims her life has been ruined after a lip tattooing procedure went horribly wrong.
Last November she paid £250 to try and fix her ‘wonky’ smile but instead was left swallowing blood after the beautician bore too deep into the tissue.
Six months on and she has been left with dark blotches on her top lip, fearing that she could be scarred for life.
She has always been self-conscious of her lips and the tattoo was only meant to be a slightly darker shade – she had never had them done before so didn’t know what to expect. She described the procedure as “feeling like someone had cut her lips off with a penknife.” She couldn’t stop crying and at one point had to ask the beautician to stop for a break.
It is normal for lips to scab over for a few days following the tattooing procedure however two weeks later her lips were still swollen and sore. When the scab finally came off, she was left with a white scar above her lip line.
The Defendant salon offered to fix her lips, saying the original beautician must have tattooed too deep into the tissue however instead she booked in with a new salon. She says it was like a completely different procedure. Afterwards her lips were slightly red but they weren’t sore and healed after about 2 days.
Unfortunately, the new salon could not fix all of her lips. She now sleeps in her make-up and refuses to kiss her boyfriend in case it rubs off.
She has been left scarred because someone else failed to perform her procedure with due care and attention.
