A mother suffered horrific burns after her son’s hoverboard exploded ‘like a bomb’ and burst into flames.

JoAnn Ensell, from Buckinghamshire, bought the toy for son, Henry, 11, as a Christmas present from wholesaler Costco, but it blew up when she took it off charge.

JoAnn suffered serious burns on her arm, hands and her hair was set on fire. It was reported the family is lucky to not have had their home destroyed in a fire from the explosion.

Mrs Ensell advised, “I suffered excruciating burns that carried all the way from my hand and up to the top of my arm, and even my hair caught fire. My burns have healed since the accident but I still have scarring and the terrifying memory of what happened”.

Mrs Ensell successfully settled the claim.
