Permanent make-up, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is becoming more and more popular in the beauty world.

Eyebrows, eyeliner and lip liner are examples of some of the things women have tattooed.

Many celebrities have turned to the treatment and look glamorous, proposing that it is a worthwhile investment.

Eyebrow tattoos are most common, used as a confidence booster, when someone is unhappy or anxious with their natural shape.

However, there have been many unfortunate cases of women upset at the end result of their tattoos.

There has been a report of a 47 year old woman who paid a lot of money to have the treatment but by the end she was distressed with what she saw. She said her eyebrows had transformed her face, that the arches were too high, making her look permanently surprised.

Another report was of a woman who’s eyebrows were ‘horrendous’, left black with a slight blue tinge, far from the light brown shade she usually had.

Both cases involved beauticians who were poorly trained or had little experience. Both the women mentioned above, had to undergo further treatment to correct the mistakes previously made, at their own expense.

The psychological impact is of concern, especially because most women view eyebrows to be an integral part of their face. There have been cases where women do not leave their home due to how self-conscious they feel and suffer emotional trauma.

Tattoos, particularly makeup ones, acquire a great deal of skill and precision from the beauty therapist. If they are not thoroughly trained the treatment can go horribly wrong, leaving the client with an unpleasant aftermath. Caution should be taken as to whether the beauty therapist has the requisite expertise and training.

If you have suffered an injury from a beauty treatment that was not your fault you may be able to make a no win no fee compensation claim.
