A woman who had hair highlights at a Toni and Guy hair studio as a 21st birthday treat has been left with a permanent bald patch.
Becca Peet suffered chemical burns during the botched colouring job. Hours after the hair treatment, Miss Peet was lying in a hospital bed due to her injuries. A year after the incident, she needed an operation as the open wound on her head got infected and had to be cut out.
Miss Peet has been left with a badly scarred bald patch, the size of a tennis ball, in the middle of her head. Miss Peet advised she was having the treatment done when she felt her head was being touched by a hot pan. She claimed the foils began to steam and despite her asking for them to be taken out, she was told it would be fine. She was further subjected to more pain as her hair was washed and blow dried.
After three years, Miss Peet agreed an undisclosed five-figure compensation settlement with Toni and Guy.
