The accident
A lady contacted Actons Injury Solicitors following an incident which occurred during her ‘fat freezing’ treatment at a beauty salon. This lady had previously used the salon for hair removal treatment and had been very happy with the results.
However, on this occasion the salon was trialling a new ‘fat freezing’ treatment which the lady wanted to try out as she was concerned about her excessive weight. This lady’s usual technician was not available on the date of the accident and the person who performed the treatment was not properly qualified.
The injury
At the time of the treatment, the lady complained of pain in her right hip area where the treatment was carried out. The area of the hip turned red and began to blister. The lady was left in significant pain for a month. This also caused permanent hyper-pigmentation in the area. She also started to suffer from disturbed sleep.
How we helped claim compensation
We believed that the accident occurred as a result of the salon’s negligence as they did not have qualified staff carrying out the treatment. Therefore, we submitted a claim to the salon’s insurers and got them to admit blame.
We had a medical report produced to understand the extent of the injuries and obtained a barrister’s opinion on the likely value of this claim. The barrister valued the claim between £4,500 – £5,000.
We settled the claim with the salon’s insurers and managed to secure £6,000 in compensation for the lady’s fat freezing injuries.
